A Peek at the Week
This week we learned about dinosaurs. Some dinosaurs walked on two feet, some on four, some could swim, others could fly, and some were herbivores, some carnivores, and some omnivores.
Vocabulary words: herbivore, carnivore, omnivore, fossil, skeleton, bones, extinct.
During circle, we had three new buddies join us-Shellie the Shape Snail, Albert the Alphabet Ant, and Nellie the Number Nematode. These critters show up during our rapid naming exercises, and we talk about our letter, number and shape of the day, which we post on the board.
We continue our Second Steps lessons with Impulsive Puppy and Slow Down Snail. The students are really responding to these lessons on emotions and empathy.
Centers this week:
Science- hunting for dinosaur “fossils” in the classroom, then piecing them back together to make a dinosaur; Projects-making a dinosaur mural with shaving cream and glue, making a dinosaur hat, coloring and cutting out dinosaur feet; Blocks-legos with dinosaurs; coloring-dinosaur pictures; puzzles-table and floor dinosaur puzzles; listening-listening to Saturday Night at the Dinosaur Stomp.
